Nutrition is not limited to the food that we consume.
When we eat, we assimilate the nutrients, and calories in our diet, but we are also affected by the emotional state that we have while we eat. The atmosphere in which we eat, and the methods in which the food is prepared are also important.
The result of a good digestion is recognized as Ojas, a Sanskrit word that means “vigor.” Ojas is the pure substance that is extracted from food, emotions, and experiences that have been completely digested. It is the life principle that provide us strength and vitality.
On the other hand, when our digestion is weak, we are unable to absorb nutrients, emotions, and experiences. Therefore, our body collects “Ama,” or toxic deposits. Ama prevents the flow of energy and information throughout our bodies, weakening our immune systems and making us feel fatigued and exhausted.
